The Multicultural Association of Cape Breton and the vendor market they host will soon have a new home.

The non-profit association is moving into 222 Charlotte St., Sydney, at the former Timeless Moments dress shop. It’s the first time the association will have a physical space to call their own.
Also making the move will be the MUCU (Multicultural) Market that was held at the Eltuek Arts Centre in the city’s north end from August until November last year. The market has now been renamed the Sydney Public Market.
“Last year when we had the multicultural market, some people weren’t sure if the market was for them,” said Ocean Le, association vice president. “We said the market is for everyone, it’s a multicultural market, it’s for everyone of all cultures including Cape Bretoners.
“That’s why this year, we have a new location at 222 Charlotte, but we also have a new name, the Sydney Public Market. That name really encompasses what we’re trying to do as well. Sydney is local, public is for everyone and it’s going to be a market. Sometimes with names, it can be quite confusing, so we wanted this to be straight forward.
